Terms of Use
Last updated: 6 October 2026
These terms apply to the Bookiva website, the Bookiva app and the Bookiva Business app (the "Service"), provided by Bookiva (Pty) Ltd ("Bookiva", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. What Bookiva does
Bookiva lets clients find salons and book their services, and gives salons tools to manage bookings, staff, clients, payments and invoices. The service itself (for example a haircut) is provided by the salon, not by Bookiva. The agreement for that service is between the client and the salon.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older and give true, up-to-date details.
- Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using your account.
3. For clients
- Booking with Bookiva is free. Prices are set by the salon and shown before you book.
- Please arrive on time, and change or cancel in the app if you can't make it. Salons may set their own rules about late cancellations and missed visits.
- If you pay in the app, the payment goes to the salon through Paystack. Refunds for a salon's services are handled by that salon.
- If a salon lets you pay later on your account, you agree to pay their invoices, in the app or at your next visit.
- Reviews must be honest and about your own visit. No abusive, false or unlawful content.
4. For salons
- New salons get a 30-day free trial. After that, a paid plan is needed to keep taking bookings. Plans and prices are shown in the app and on our website.
- Subscriptions are paid in advance through Paystack, monthly or yearly. You can stop renewing at any time; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Bookiva takes no commission on bookings. Payments from clients go to your bank account through your Paystack account; Paystack's fees apply and are paid by the salon.
- You are responsible for your services, prices, staff, client records, invoices and for following the law, including POPIA for the client information you keep.
- Keep your salon details, services and working hours accurate so clients can book correctly.
5. Fair use
Do not misuse the Service: no fake bookings or accounts, no trying to access other people's information, no harmful code, and no use that breaks the law. We may suspend accounts that do.
6. Availability
We work hard to keep Bookiva running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may improve or change features over time.
7. Liability
As far as the law allows, Bookiva is not liable for the services salons provide, for disputes between clients and salons, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other South African law.
8. Ending your account
You may stop using Bookiva and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may close accounts that break these terms.
9. Law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. We may update them; we will show the new date at the top and tell you in the app about important changes.
